How It Works
This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, widely considered the most accurate formula for estimating Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). Your BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor to estimate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).
Weight Change Guidelines
A deficit of 500 calories per day generally results in about 1 pound of weight loss per week. Extreme deficits below 1,200 calories (women) or 1,500 calories (men) are not recommended without medical supervision, as they may lead to nutritional deficiencies and metabolic slowdown.
